'Kalbela' is a good attempt to tell a story about a girl during the liberation war

While we celebrate our 50 years of independence, I have decided to watch a film based on the Bangladesh liberation war released this year. As per my knowledge, two films released this year based on the liberation war are 'Kalbela' and 'Lal Moroger Jhuti.' Kalbela is directed by noted filmmaker, film editor, and freedom fighter Mr Saidul Anam Tutul. I have chosen to watch the Kalbela. This film is inspired by a research book titled 'Narir 71 O Juddha Parabarti Kathya Kahini', a publication of Ain O Salish Kendra. It has propelled me to watch the film.

The film is based on a woman's struggle against the backdrop of the  Bangladesh liberation war. It reveals the uncertain & crucial journey of the common people to seek refuge during the war, the plight of the workers in the besieged cities, the brutal atrocities of the Bihari and Pakistani forces and the social unrest during the war.

After 50 years of independence, women still are not getting their rights. I was really curious to know what Mr Tutul did narrate in his film. We didn't get a full story of the liberation war in a movie yet, and I am not complaining about it. We got lots of films like 'Kalbela'. Those films told different sides of our liberation war. I appreciate every director who chooses to direct a movie based on the liberation war of Bangladesh. As we can see, producers are not interested in investing in alternative cinema. Those directors who choose to direct the film based on liberation war, I salute them.

I am telling this crisis while writing a film review because this is well linked with the film. Direct wanted to tell so many things, but he has not enough money to arrange all the ambience.

Apart from the technical things, This film has a good storyline; it has screened a clash between Muslims and Hindus out of personal interests. And unfortunately, it's still happening in our country.

I have found more than three natural actors/actresses in this film. They played a good role to make the movie successful. I have to say about Tahmina; She was genuine and spontaneous throughout the film.

Overall it's a good film to watch, but I suggest that you better don't have lots of hope before going to the hall is good. We all understand the limitation and all. But please go and watch the film to inspire those who take risks to tell our untold stories to the new generation.
